Dog Training
It is often hard to know the best approach for training dogs that are not physically fit, this is an issue we face frequently with the dogs we treat at Meadow Farm.
For a long time we have looked for a way to safely mentally stimulate injured and post surgical dogs. We often need to consider the socialisation and obedience training of puppies and older dogs that are unable to attend regular training classes due to orthopaedic conditions. Earlier this year we met Teresa Nice. Teresa is a Canine Behaviourist who has an interest in hydrotherapy and rehabilitation.
We understand that it is frustrating to have to stop all training due to surgery or injury or not even being able to start with a young dog diagnosed with joint problems.
So we have joined forces with Teresa to create a training class especially for those dogs with physical issues that prevent them attending regular classes. These classes are small, a maximum of six dogs, and are half hour sessions only. Emphasis is given to issues that can hamper a dog's physical wellbeing, both during the rehabilitation phase and long term. Classes take place in a quiet, calm, controlled environment, they are fun and will help your dog to focus and think. One to one sessions are available also.
